Grad student’s survey on BDSM
Was just forwarded this and figured some folks might be interested. I just took the survey and have the following notes:
- Bonus points for good gender and sexual orientation options (multiple choice, with good choices)
- Requires some essay questions, on which I got a little lazy (not the survey’s fault)
I am a graduate student at Loyola University Chicago in the Social Work and Womens Studies/Gender Studies programs and am working with Dr. Michael Dentato to conduct the current study into the lives of people who practice BDSM. The goal of this survey is to more fully understand strengths and resources in these communities. Through participation in the current survey, we hope to gain feedback for revisions so that we can redistribute the survey to a wider audience sometime in March or April. If you are interested in participating in the current study, the link is included below. If you are interested in helping distribute our revised survey later this spring, I would love to communicate and send you a link when it is ready.

I know a lot of people are skeptical of surveys and research into minority communities, especially by outsiders. That’s totally legit, but good anonymous research will (hopefully!) help move acceptance forward.

I recently read a Ph.D. thesis (I guess) about bdsm and the experience seeking personality profile. If you’re interested I can try to post the link.
Please do! I’d love to see it.
