Using Vimeo

I’ve been experimenting with Vimeo, as opposed to YouTube, for hosting my video files. It’ s not as widespread as YouTube, but is much more artist-focused and (I’m told) has nice tools and a community around sharing one’s work (rather than sharing cat videos).

As part of that exprimentation, I figured I’d embed the same video from Vimeo and YouTube and see how it came out.

I do think the Vimeo interface is a bit more refined, and it seems like the same video is a bit cleaner, too. Vimeo’s accounts also don’t have length limits, but the free accounts do have a 500 mb a week upload limit. YouTube, on the other hand, has a You can pay $10 a month or $60 annually to upgrade to 5 gb/week and allow for more HD footage, but I don’t think I need to, at least yet. If I do get more video, I may consider it, but it doesn’t seem worth it right now.

Any of you had experiences (positive or negative) with Vimeo or YouTube?

a lot of fen prefer vimeo, possibly partly because vids are less likely to be removed!
