I’m a huge fan of board/card games, and Apples to Apples is great fun.

The basic game involves choosing a noun card (Canada, George Washington, Inside the Sun, etc) to go with an adjective card (scary, fast, stupid, etc). Whoever has their noun card chosen wins that round. It’s a pretty simple game, and usually very fun and funny. (Since, inevitably, people go with the most ridiculous or offensive nouns.)

I was recently introduced to Cards Against Humanity, which has the same basic rules: A question card (as opposed to a adjective card) is placed, and everyone chooses a card from their hand to respond to that question. Except the questions, and answers, are a little different…

For an example, “What do old people smell like?”

Some possible responses could be “John McCain’s campaign strategy,” “The clitoris,” or “Overcompensation.”

Best of all, the game is free. Go to their website and download the PDF, which comes with all the cards. Then get it printed out – it cost me a whopping $4.14 to get it printed on nice card stock – and get your friends together to cut everything out.

Half an hour later you’ll be playing an absolutely hilarious game, and on the cheap.
